Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is developing the next generation of missioncritical commandandcontrol and enterprise software capabilities supporting the U.S. Government's space communications infrastructure. Our team is responsible for delivering secure, resilient services that enable modern, scalable, and trusted mission operations for the decade ahead.

As a Crypto Product Manager, you will lead the technical strategy and design direction for cryptographic services across the platform. You will drive decisions involving PKI architecture, key management, and identity-centric security models while partnering closely with engineering teams to deliver secure, interoperable solutions. This role blends deep cryptographic expertise with product ownership responsibilities to ensure mission systems meet stringent security and performance requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Define and manage the product vision, roadmap, and technical requirements for cryptographic services, including PKI, key management, and identity-based security capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary authority for cryptographic design decisions, ensuring alignment with program architecture, Zero Trust principles, and mission security needs.
  • Oversee the design and integration of OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC, ABAC, certificate lifecycle management, and device endorsement capabilities within mission software.
  • Lead the development of Pythonbased cryptographic automation workflows, including key generation, certificate signing, issuance pipelines, and PKI integration tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, security stakeholders, and program leadership to drive secure-by-design implementation and resolve complex cryptographic challenges.
Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience with a BS/BA in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; OR 6+ years with MS/MA; OR 3+ years with PhD. Four (4) years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Experience gathering customer requirements and translating operational needs into prioritized product capabilities and technical roadmaps
  • Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate lifecycle management, key management systems, cryptographic algorithms, and digital identity
  • Knowledge of classical and post-quantum cryptography concepts, hybrid cryptographic migration strategies, and cryptographic agility.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust architectures, identity and access management, and secure system design principles.
  • Experience prioritizing product backlogs and defining release plans using SaFE methodologies.
  • Experience in creating detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature specifications
  • Demonstrated experience delivering product vision, roadmap, and technical capabilities briefings to executive leadership, customers, and engineering teams.
  • Understanding of cloud-native architectures, REST APIs, microservices, containerized deployments, and secure software development practices.
  • Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC, ABAC, and secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI
  • Ability to work closely with engineering, security, systems engineering, test, and program management teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Experience balancing customer priorities, technical constraints, security requirements, and program schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for white papers, product demonstrations, technical briefings, and proposal support.
