What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Network Engineer Level 3, you will design, configure, deploy, and sustain network infrastructure supporting complex operational environments. You will work extensively with Cisco and Arista technologies while supporting network security, system upgrades, equipment fielding, and infrastructure modernization.
In addition to ongoing operational support, you will help design new systems and architect future environments as capabilities transition from legacy architectures toward containerized and potentially cloud-based solutions. This position includes hands-on lab work, remote and in-person system support, occasional travel, and participation in on-call support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, deploy, and sustain Cisco and Arista network infrastructure
  • Support network design and architecture for new systems and environments
  • Configure and test new systems, upgrades, and network configurations in lab environments
  • Support the remote and in-person fielding of new network equipment and capabilities
  • Provide ongoing network support, including firewall and crypto equipment
  • Troubleshoot complex network, connectivity, and infrastructure issues
  • Support modernization from legacy systems toward containerized and potentially cloud-based environments
  • Support network upgrades, cutovers, and configuration changes
  • Track and resolve technical and operational issues using JIRA or similar ticketing systems
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and technical records
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer teams to maintain operational continuity
  • Participate in on-call operational support and occasional OCONUS travel as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Significant Cisco and Arista configuration and sustainment experience
  • Strong Network Engineering experience supporting complex operational environments
  • Experience with network design, routing, switching, and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting firewalls, crypto equipment, and other network security technologies
  • Experience configuring, testing, upgrading, and troubleshooting network systems
  • Ability to work effectively in both lab and operational environments
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including OCONUS, and participate in on-call operational support once trained

Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus ten (10) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus twelve (12) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience; OR
  • Sixteen (16) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience in lieu of a degree, along with an industry-recognized certification such as Arista Configuration Essentials, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or an applicable Juniper certification.

Certifications:
DoD Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III baseline certification required in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M
Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
