What is a crypto design?

A Crypto Design job focuses on creating secure cryptographic systems, protocols, and algorithms to protect digital assets, communications, and data. Professionals in this role work on encryption, authentication, and blockchain security, ensuring systems are resilient against attacks. They collaborate with engineers and researchers to implement cryptographic solutions in software, hardware, or decentralized systems. The job requires expertise in cryptography, security principles, and sometimes blockchain technology.

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by professionals in crypto design roles?

Professionals in Crypto Design roles often face the challenge of staying ahead of rapidly evolving security threats and keeping up with advances in cryptographic algorithms. Designing systems that balance high security with efficiency and scalability requires a deep understanding of both cryptography and real-world application constraints. Additionally, working with cross-functional teams to integrate secure design principles into broader products can be complex and requires clear communication. Staying current with regulatory requirements and industry best practices is also an ongoing responsibility in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the crypto design position, and why are they important?

To excel in Crypto Design, you need strong knowledge of cryptography, secure system architecture, and blockchain protocols, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related technical field. Familiarity with cryptographic libraries, secure coding practices, and tools like OpenSSL or Ethereum development kits is essential, and certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are advantageous. Creativity, problem-solving, and effective communication help you collaborate in cross-functional teams and convey complex technical ideas clearly. These skills ensure the secure, innovative, and reliable design of cryptographic systems that meet industry standards and business needs.

Senior Product Manager - Exchange, Trading

Crypto.com

San Francisco, CA • On-site

Full-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Crypto.com is on a mission to put Cryptocurrency in Every Wallet™. We are building the Exchange and advanced trading products professional and power users depend on — alongside the Crypto.com App, Visa Card, and Onchain Wallet. Founded in 2016 on the belief that controlling your money, data, and identity is a basic human right.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior  Trading Product Manager to own trading product for Exchange in the U.S. — with a sharp mandate on futures and regulated derivatives across DCM and FCM surfaces. Volume, trust, and share of wallet live or die on whether futures traders can open, manage, and close risk without friction — and whether we can ship at the pace a growth-mode FCM demands.

Your mandate is to make U.S. futures trading a default desk for the traders we target: product strategy and roadmap for futures/trading experience, DCM/FCM-aware workflows (listings, margins, order types, lifecycle), cross-functional execution with eng, risk, compliance, and ops, and outcomes that show up in volume, retention, and product velocity.

You will run your roadmap with independence. You make the call on prioritization, tradeoffs, and what ships when the bar isn’t there yet. You report to VP, Exchange Product, who sets Exchange strategy. You own the how and the when.

If you’ve shipped futures product at a DCM, FCM, or exchange — or you’ve lived inside an FCM through a fast-paced growth mode — this will feel familiar. The difference is you’ll be doing it in crypto at Exchange scale, where the rails are still being written and the playbook is yours to own

What You'll Actually Do:
  • Own the U.S. Exchange trading / futures roadmap. You are the DRI for the charter. You set milestones, sequence work, and resolve cross-team dependencies. Nothing in this scope goes live without your product sign-off.
  • Ship futures products traders actually use. You decide which contracts, workflows, and tools come next — and which “nice ideas” never make the cut. Ownership isn’t shipping features; it’s delivering outcomes traders feel when they manage risk.
  • Bring DCM / FCM fluency into product decisions. You translate how designated contract markets and futures commission merchants actually work — margins, clearing, order lifecycle, ops constraints — into product that can ship and scale without becoming a compliance science project after the fact.
  • Operate at growth-mode pace. You’ve seen (or run) product inside an FCM or futures shop that was scaling fast. You know how to prioritize ruthlessly, cut scope, and still ship when volume and urgency are both rising.
  • Partner across risk, compliance, eng, and ops. You align stakeholders around clear outcomes. You surface regulatory and operational constraints early. You don’t wait for someone else to “figure out the FCM part.”
  • Talk to traders like a peer. You run research and feedback loops. You ask “Show me how you currently enter / manage / exit this futures position,” not “Would you use this feature?” You distinguish what traders say from what their behavior reveals.
  • Own the numbers. You instrument what matters, size opportunities, and prioritize without waiting for someone to hand you the analysis. Your work shows up in volume, engagement, and ship cadence.
Requirements:
  • DCM and/or FCM futures product experience — or FCM growth-mode operator. You have owned or shipped futures / derivatives product in a DCM or FCM context, or you have worked inside an FCM in a fast-paced growth mode and can walk through what you owned, what broke under scale, and what you did next.
  • Lead-level product ownership. You have owned a complex trading or markets product surface end-to-end and can describe a time dependencies broke down — and what you did to still ship.
  • Futures / markets fluency. You know contract specs, margins, order types, position lifecycle, and how pros actually trade futures. You can explain what makes futures UX and workflow great vs. frustrating.
  • Evidence of shipping under constraint. You can point to a launch where regulatory, clearing, risk, or ops constraints were real — and you still delivered a trader-usable product.
  • Cross-functional leadership without title theater. You align eng, risk, compliance, and ops around outcomes. You escalate only what must escalate; you own the rest.
  • Data ownership. You instrument your own funnel / volume drivers, size the opportunity, and prioritize without waiting for analysis to be handed to you.
Preferred:
  • Prior exchange / brokerage / advanced trading platform PM work (crypto or traditional).
  • Institutional or pro-trader product experience.
  • Hands-on futures trading (or daily use of the products you ship).
  • Experience standing up or scaling U.S.-regulated futures distribution (FCM onboarding, DCM listings, margin products).
  • Design sensibility for dense trading UIs — you can evaluate hierarchy, density, and interaction cost with specifics.
  • AI-native workflow: you use AI tools to move faster with human-in-the-loop judgmen
Why This Role:
  • Access. You work directly with Exchange product leadership on U.S. trading. No layers.
  • Leverage. Futures and regulated derivatives are a front door to volume and trust — your roadmap compounds across the Exchange.
  • Frontier. U.S. crypto futures / FCM-style growth is still being written. The playbook is yours to own.
  • Upside. Early ownership on trading surfaces that sit on the critical path of volume, retention, and share of wallet.
  • Team. High-calibre eng, risk, and compliance partners who care whether traders can actually execute — not just whether a ticket closed.
