Job Summary

Serves as the first line supervisor responsible for directing employees in the operation of station equipment and facilities at the Kincaid Power Station. Incumbent will provide leadership in the implementation of policies, procedures, assessments, and work methods for the Operations team members assigned to the shift. This role will pay between $79,800 to $125,700 annually, depending upon skills and experience. Role is also eligible for bonus, profit sharing and benefits.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees production at Kincaid Power Station to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, efficient and economical electricity generation.
  • Ensures the station operates within local, company, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Performs general leadership and administrative duties, including, but not limited to employee performance assessment/counseling, safety and training.
  • Performs leadership duties in the implementation of policies, procedures and work methods for Control Room Operators and other assigned personnel.
  • Thorough understanding of safety policies/programs, environmental and regulatory policies/requirements.
  • This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions while exposed to heat, cold, operating machinery, energized wires, loud noise, dust, grease, oil and fumes.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, chemical suits, high voltage protective equipment, and firefighter gear).
  • Coordinates Operations' activities with other departments at the station.
  • Sets and communicates performance and professionalism standards.
  • Works a rotating shift.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years advanced knowledge of fossil fuel power station operations.
  • Proficient computer skills in programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Position requires working on feet for extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work required.
  • Ability to frequently climb stairs, climb ladders to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two years' experience in a supervisor position, preferably in a union environment.
  • Associate's Degree related to power plants or other relevant industry, technical degree or relative military experience.
  • Previous experience involving leadership, problem solving, negotiating, computer and effective communication skills.
  • Operating experience with B&W cyclone UP boilers and Westinghouse turbine generators.
  • Power Plant Control Room Operator experience preferred.
