Job description

Simplot is a family-owned, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Its integrated portfolio of companies includes food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture. Simplot has major operations in nine countries with products and services available to customers worldwide.
Summary
The Data Science Analyst, AI & Analytics Enablement, plays a key role in executing Simplot's AI vision by helping the business adopt and apply analytics, automation, and AI to improve productivity, decision-making, and business outcomes beyond what humans can accomplish alone.
In this role, you will partner directly with business users to identify opportunities, define clear use cases, and co-develop solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, Copilot, and related technologies. As a senior individual contributor, you will provide expertise in self-service analytics, no- or low-code AI configuration and architecture, and user enablement. You'll help develop reusable standards, templates, training materials, and implementation playbooks that allow business users to safely and efficiently build and scale analytics and AI solutions aligned to enterprise standards.
The role requires a high degree of curiosity, initiative, and continuous learning as AI technologies are evolving rapidly. You will be expected to develop deep expertise in emerging analytics and AI capabilities, understand how they work, assess their applicability to Simplot's business challenges, and distinguish between meaningful opportunities and technology hype. Success in this role requires persistence, experimentation, and a strong ability to translate new technology into practical business applications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Help business users define and properly scope use cases and determine appropriate technologies, including Power BI, Fabric, Copilot, Power Platform, Dataverse, and related solutions.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and co-development support for self-service analytics and AI solutions (e.g., Microsoft Copilot agents, Power BI reporting).
  • Coach business users on approved architecture patterns, standards, and solution limitations or risks.
  • Help develop training materials, examples, and reusable learning resources.
  • Deliver workshops, demonstrations, office hours, and enablement sessions.
  • Measure adoption, gather feedback, and identify opportunities to improve user success.
  • Research, explore, and assess practical business use cases for emerging AI and analytics technologies.
  • Facilitate AI solution risk assessments and governance reviews as needed in partnership with Information Security, Legal, Procurement, and business stakeholders.
  • Assist solution owners in understanding and applying AI governance standards, policies, and required controls.

Typical Education
Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Relevant Experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience developing analytics, reporting, automation, application, or AI solutions using Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Databricks, or similar technologies.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Highly structured and process-oriented, with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
