Department Description:

Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines a recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients.

 On the one hand: our transversal, product-neutral Coverage teams spanning all businesses, who's role is to promote the Bank's products and services to our clients globally.

On the other: our world-class capital raising, financing and advisory expertise organized under five business divisions:

  • Investment Banking Division (IBD)

  •  Asset Finance (AFI)

  • Natural Resources and Infrastructure (NAT)

  •  Asset Backed Products (ABP)

  • Syndication (SYN)

Central to supporting our front office, GLBA is also comprised of transversal functions such as:

  • Credit Portfolio Management (CPM)

  • Business Management Office (BMO)

  • Sustainable & Positive Impact Finance Solutions team (ENV)

  • Our in-house Incubator (INC) to drive innovation across GLBA

  • Our Human Resources team (HUM)

The credit unit, GLBA/CPM, is responsible for centralizing all topics related to credit risk management under the GLBA perimeter, in particular:

  • Assessing the counterparty risk related to the credit risk, to the replacement risk and to the delivery risk on behalf of all GBIS PCRU's excluding PRIV (to the exception of PCRUs assumed by business line when it has the specific required expertise, eg. LBO, etc...) and for all GBIS clients (excluding clearing houses, brokers, hedge funds and project SPV)

  • Contributing to regulatory reports (GRR, ...)

  • Monitoring CORISQ limits for GLBA portfolio

  • Monitoring validation process of credit files, Group limits and rating of counterparties

  • Developing and monitoring of some regulatory models to measure credit risk

  • Assessing the impact of any financings to the overall loan portfolio in CPM

About the role:

The Credit Analyst Intern Position is within Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Bank, Credit Portfolio Management ("CPM"). The Credit Analyst Intern will work under the supervision of a Director located in Montreal and will be responsible for assisting CPM analysts to manage a portfolio of clients, which mainly consist of large non-banking financial institutions within the America's region (i.e., private equity funds, insurance groups, regulated funds, business development companies, private pension funds, asset managers and other financing type entities). The intern will be responsible for supporting the preparation of credit assessments and participating in on-going portfolio review of exposures, limits, and ratings under the supervision of the Senior Credit Analyst.

In addition, the Credit Analyst Intern will oversee the following responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of Net Asset Value performances and clauses in existing legal documentations (i.e., additional termination events in an MRA or financial covenant/events of default in an ISDA/CSA).

  • Performing peer reviews in the different NBFI space.

  • Modelling of financial information within the SG tool to calculate and propose Obligor Risk Ratings.

  • Liaising with other CPM teams in the Americas and Europe, internal business lines, relationship managers, legal and compliance departments, back-office operations, and RISQ.

  • Using AI tools to automate manual tasks

  • Ad hoc reporting and administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • You are a graduate with a Bachelor or Master's degree with a focus in Finance, Accounting or Economics.

  • You are knowledgeable in financial statement analysis.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Excel, Word, Co-Pilot, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

LANGUAGE:  Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
