At FAIRWINDS Credit Union, we're more than a workplace; we're a team on a mission. Join the credit union nationally endorsed by The Dave Ramsey Show, where every day is a step toward financial freedom, for our members and for you.

We're looking for an experienced Assistant Vice President, Commercial Portfolio Officer to play a key role in overseeing the health and performance of our commercial loan portfolio, supporting loan participation activities, and identifying emerging risks and opportunities.

In this role, you'll partner closely with Commercial Credit, Risk Management, Portfolio Management, and external financial institutions to help ensure sound portfolio administration, strong credit quality, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. If you enjoy analyzing complex credit relationships, monitoring portfolio performance, and building strong industry partnerships, we'd love to hear from you.

Your Role in Our Mission

  • Serve as the primary commercial credit resource for participation and syndication activities, including opportunity evaluation, due diligence, transaction analysis, partner coordination, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Analyze the financial condition, creditworthiness, and risk characteristics of originating and participating financial institutions.
  • Administer purchased and sold loan participations, including financial reporting review, covenant monitoring, servicing communication, and issue escalation.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and analyze trends related to concentrations, asset quality, risk migration, industry exposure, and maturity profiles.
  • Prepare portfolio reports, credit summaries, risk assessments, and recommendations for executive leadership and loan committees.
  • Support commercial portfolio risk oversight by monitoring criticized and classified relationships and escalating material concerns as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with participation partners, originating institutions, and other external stakeholders.
  • Identify emerging portfolio risks, trends, and control concerns and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Credit Union policies, loan participation requirements, and applicable regulatory guidance.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial lending, commercial credit, portfolio management, or a related financial services environment.
  • Strong commercial credit analysis and financial statement analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with commercial real estate (CRE), commercial and industrial (C&I) lending, portfolio monitoring, or credit risk management preferred.
  • Experience with loan participations, syndications, or shared credit structures preferred.
  • Formal credit training is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and with external partners.

A Culture of Care and Reward:
You give your best, and we give back with a comprehensive and meaningful rewards package:

  • Enjoy 11 paid holidays and generous paid time off to recharge and reset
  • Build your future with a 6% 401(k) match
  • Eligible for a $700 annual contribution to your Health Savings Account
  • Access our comprehensive maternity leave program to support growing families
  • Stay covered with medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • Grow your career through leadership development, tuition assistance, and advancement opportunities
  • Earn rewards for financial wellness through our Debt Free Club and Dave Ramsey’s SmartDollar program
  • Thrive in a purpose-driven, people-first culture where your impact matters
