Job description

Ready to Turn Your Social Savvy Into a Career?

The best social media professionals don’t just post content; they understand people, culture, and what makes communities connect. They spot trends, ask great questions, know when a brand should join the conversation—and when it shouldn’t—and are always curious about what’s coming next.

At Sparkloft, you’ll start building those skills from day one. We’re a social-first agency that helps some of the world’s leading brands build authentic communities and meaningful connections. As a Social Media Intern, you’ll play an active role in bringing that work to life alongside a team that’s invested in your growth.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across community management, content development, influencer marketing, social listening, reporting, and more. You’ll also explore how AI and emerging technologies are changing the way we create, collaborate, and connect brands with people.

We’re looking for someone who’s curious, creative, collaborative, and ready to learn. Someone who pays attention to what’s happening online, enjoys figuring out what resonates and why, takes initiative, and isn’t afraid to bring a fresh perspective to the table.  If you’re excited to turn your love of social media into real-world agency experience with a team that values curiosity, continuous learning, collaboration, and doing exceptional work together, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

As a Social Media Intern, you’ll be part of our Client Services team, working alongside strategists and other agency team members to help our clients show up authentically and effectively across social media.

This isn’t an internship where you’ll spend your time watching from the sidelines. You’ll learn by doing, contribute to real client work, and build practical skills that can help launch your career in social media and marketing.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Engaging with online communities: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across social platforms in a timely, thoughtful, and professional way while reflecting each client’s unique brand voice.
  • Supporting social content development: Help brainstorm ideas, draft social copy, source relevant content, and contribute to content created for major social platforms.
  • Keeping content moving: Schedule and publish approved content according to client content calendars, with an eye toward accuracy, timing, and quality.
  • Spotting what’s next: Monitor social channels for emerging trends, cultural moments, user-generated content, and conversations that may be relevant to our clients.
  • Supporting influencer marketing: Assist with influencer research, identification, and outreach efforts.
  • Learning what performs and why: Help gather and track key social media metrics, including engagement and community growth, and contribute to client performance reporting.
  • Bringing ideas to the table: Participate in team brainstorms and look for opportunities to contribute a fresh perspective to client work.

What You Bring

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation, genuine curiosity, and the desire to grow.

  • 0–2 years of experience in social media, communications, marketing, or a related field, including internships, student organizations, freelance work, or relevant academic experience.
  • A genuine interest in social media, digital culture, and how brands connect with people online.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability—or eagerness to learn—to adapt to different brand voices.
  • A basic understanding of paid, earned, shared, and owned media.
  • A people-first mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and willingness to ask questions, contribute ideas, and learn from others.
  • Curiosity about culture, technology, emerging platforms, and big ideas.
  • An eye for compelling social content and an interest in understanding what performs and why.
  • An interest in using AI tools thoughtfully to improve workflows, generate ideas, and support stronger outcomes.

Bonus Points If You…

These aren’t requirements, but we’d love to hear about them if you:

  • Have experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp.
  • Are fluent or professionally proficient in Spanish.
  • Are already experimenting with AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, or similar platforms.
  • Know your way around a DSLR or enjoy creating mobile photography and video.
  • Have a passion for sports, tourism, or travel.

Success in This Role Looks Like

By the end of your internship, we want you to leave with more than a line on your résumé. Success means you’ve contributed meaningful work, developed new skills, and gained a clearer understanding of where you want to take your career.

You’ll be successful when you:

  • Consistently contribute thoughtful, on-brand community engagement that helps foster positive conversations and connections.
  • Demonstrate reliability and attention to detail when supporting content scheduling, publishing, and community monitoring.
  • Grow your understanding of social media strategy, content, community management, influencer marketing, and performance measurement.
  • Become increasingly confident using data and observations to understand what’s working and why.
  • Learn how to use AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly as part of your everyday workflow.
  • Ask questions, share ideas, seek feedback, and apply what you learn.
  • Become a trusted and positive contributor to a collaborative team environment.

How You’ll Grow With AI

AI is changing how agencies work, and at Sparkloft, you’ll have the opportunity to learn by experimenting with it firsthand.

We don’t expect you to arrive as an AI expert. We do expect you to be curious.

During your internship, you’ll learn how to use AI tools to support tasks such as brainstorming content ideas, exploring copy variations, summarizing online conversations, conducting initial research, and making everyday workflows more efficient.

You’ll also learn one of the most important skills in working with AI: knowing when to use it—and when human creativity, context, and judgment need to lead.  That means asking questions, experimenting responsibly, reviewing AI-assisted work for accuracy and brand alignment, and continuing to develop your own point of view.

Our goal is for you to leave Sparkloft not only with stronger social media skills, but also with practical experience using emerging technology thoughtfully, creatively, and responsibly.
