Job description

The Wheeling Nailers are seeking a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic Social Media Intern for the 2026-2027 season. This position will help tell the story of Nailers hockey across social media and showcase the excitement and experience of being part of Nailers Nation. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.
Responsibilities
• Assist with the game day management of the team's social media accounts.
• Create and publish real-time game day content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X with a focus heavily on short-form vertical video for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
• Identify social media trends, sounds, formats, and ideas that can be adapted to the Nailers brand.
• Create graphics and digital content for social media, promotions, announcements, and other marketing initiatives.
• Assist with social media coverage of promotional nights by capturing behind-the-scenes moments, fan interactions, player content, and other game-day experiences.
• Attend community events, school visits, sponsor events, and other team appearances as needed for social media content.
• Rotate coverage of away games with the Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing.
• Assist with additional marketing projects and events as needed.
Qualifications
• Strong understanding of social media platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and Youtube) and current trends.
• Graphic design experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Premier preferred)
• Strong creative thinking, storytelling, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous social media, digital content, or sports/entertainment experience preferred.
• Must be able to receive college credit.
Position Requirements
• Must attend all Wheeling Nailers home games including regular season (May - April) and if needed playoffs (April - June)
• Availability for additional community events is preferred, team appearances, promotional events, and other organizational initiatives.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Reliable transportation to WesBanco Arena and community events is required.
