What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative production assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Production Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in media, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools, digital asset management systems, and basic proficiency in creative software like Adobe Creative Suite are typically expected. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills help you support diverse creative teams and manage shifting priorities. This is a hybrid role combining studio operations, client support, production assistance, and video editing. You'll work directly with clients, assist during recording sessions, organize production workflows, and edit content for delivery across YouTube, podcasts, and social media.
The ideal candidate thrives in an organized environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, takes pride in delivering polished work, and has a passion for content creation and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Studio Operations & Administration:
  • Manage studio scheduling and booking calendars.
  • Coordinate client confirmations, reminders, and session logistics.
  • Maintain accurate client records and production documentation.
  • Support client onboarding and ensure a seamless studio experience.
  • Organize digital assets, project files, and production archives.
  • Track project workflows to ensure deliverables stay on schedule.
  • Maintain studio supplies, equipment organization, and overall studio readiness.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks that support daily operations.

Production Support:
  • Assist with camera setup, lighting, microphones, and studio preparation.
  • Support producers during live recording sessions.
  • Monitor basic audio and video quality during recordings.
  • Offload, organize, and back up footage following recording sessions.
  • Reset studio sets between clients and maintain production spaces.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and inventory.

Video Editing & Post-Production:
  • Edit long-form podcast and video content for client delivery.
  • Create engaging short-form clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Perform basic color correction, audio cleanup, and timeline organization.
  • Add titles, graphics, captions, music, and simple motion elements where appropriate.
  • Export videos in multiple formats for various platforms.
  • Upload and organize finished files for client delivery.
  • Collaborate with the production team to maintain consistent editing quality and turnaround times.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Experience editing video using CapCut Pro.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable learning new software and production workflows.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly dependable.

Preferred:
  • Experience working in a podcast, video production, marketing, or content creation environment.
  • Familiarity with cameras, lighting, microphones, and audio recording equipment.
  • Basic understanding of YouTube and social media content creation.
  • Experience with Frame.io or similar review and delivery platforms.
  • Basic Photoshop or Canva experience is a plus.

What We're Looking For
The right person is:
  • A self-starter who takes ownership without needing constant direction.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Calm under pressure and professional when working with clients.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to producing high-quality work.
  • Systems-minded and able to improve processes as the studio grows.
  • Comfortable balancing administrative work with creative production tasks.
  • Positive, adaptable, and eager to learn.

Growth Opportunity:
This position offers significant opportunities to grow within a rapidly expanding production company. As responsibilities increase, there is potential to take on larger editing projects, lead productions, manage client accounts, oversee studio operations, and develop into a key member of the leadership team.
