Job description

BSI is hiring an electrical engineer to develop functional and in-circuit test assemblies to support the wind and solar industry in a cooperative, fast-paced environment. The engineer filling this role will use their broad range of technical skills to provide on-time, creative, and reliable solutions for our customers. This is a full time and in person position. 

Electrical Engineer Job Responsibilities:
  • Designing, researching, testing, and improving both in-house and third-party designed electronic assemblies used in green energy power applications.
  • Using industry-standard computer design tools like KiCad and Altium Designer for end-to-end PCB development including schematic capture, circuit simulation, PCB layout, and fabrication exports.
  • Researching and designing hardware assembly components for automated test fixtures.
  • Performing research and technical evaluation in support of our production team.
  • Estimating material, labor, and time requirements for projects.
  • Evaluating other industrial electrical systems, projects, components, and applications by designing and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
  • Communicate and present complex technical information to technicians and non-technical team members.

Electrical Engineer Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is required (IEA Washington Accord programs).
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience including internship or cooperative program experience.
  • Experience in electronic circuit design, layout, debugging, and testing
  • Proficiency with any full-featured EDA software suite.
  • Ability to analyze and improve electronic assemblies, sometimes without design documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Embedded firmware experience in C/C++ (Target experience with ARM/STM32).
  • Working knowledge of embedded protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB.
  • Comfort with hardware bring-up; debugging with JTAG/SWD, logic analyzing, oscilloscope work.
  • Utility programming experience in Python.
  • Working knowledge of common industrial controls interfaces and protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, PMBus, PROFINET, RS-232/422/485).
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC converter topologies.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment including power supplies, DMMs, signal generators, etc.
