The Freelance Associate Creative Director (Copy) will lead the development of social-first creative campaigns that connect brands with audiences through storytelling, culture, creators, and digital innovation.

This role combines creative direction, copywriting, strategy, and campaign leadership to deliver integrated marketing initiatives across modern social platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and shape social-first, always-on brand channels, including paid campaigns.
  • Develop breakthrough creative ideas that drive cultural relevance, engagement, earned media, and audience growth.
  • Provide creative oversight across content strategy, copy, video, and platform execution.
  • Lead projects from concept development through production and launch.
Campaign Development
  • Partner with strategy, production, design, creator/influencer, and account teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Guide brands on authentic engagement across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, creator partnerships, and emerging platforms.
  • Pitch campaign concepts and creative opportunities to existing and prospective clients.
Team Development
  • Mentor and inspire junior creatives.
  • Help elevate the agency's overall creative standards.
  • Contribute to agency growth through thought leadership, internal creative development, and marketing initiatives.
Industry & Trend Leadership
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, creator behavior, internet culture, and emerging content formats.

Qualifications Required
  • 8โ€“10 years of experience in creative, social, and/or creative production within agencies or in-house creative teams.
  • Strong copywriting background with experience leading concept development and campaign storytelling.
  • Experience developing and leading social-first campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • TikTok
    • Instagram
    • YouTube
    • Shorts
    • Reels
    • Emerging social platforms
  • Deep understanding of organic and paid TikTok content strategies.
  • Strong conceptual thinking, storytelling, copywriting, and production knowledge.
  • Experience leading projects from concept through production and launch.
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead creative teams while remaining hands-on when needed.
  • Organized, collaborative, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with a passion for creativity and culture.
  • Must be based in the New York City area.
