Job description

Game Creative Directors at Riot define and oversee the overall creative strategy for a product. You'll create inspiring creative direction across experiences that genuinely surprise and delight players. You will help build the product strategy and tie the product's goals to the target audience. Creative direction is for the team; as the Creative Director acts as the intersection between aesthetics, story, and brand that evokes a visceral response in players. At that intersection you'll lead with vision and demonstrate incredible taste with a high quality bar.
As a Senior Creative Director, you will be front and center in defining the creative direction of Teamfight Tactics, the world's largest strategy game. In this role you will help lead a passionate, multi-discipline development team to own the Autobattler genre on PC and mobile by hyper-serving Teamfight Tactics players globally. Game Creative Directors are the most senior creative team leaders who define, communicate, align and maintain the overall creative direction of a product. Game Creative Directors will drive a holistic vision across all aspects of a game, working with every discipline and team to bring that creative vision to life. Game Creative Directors will manage the careers of developers and leaders from many creative crafts (art, audio, narrative, and technical art). You will be fostering a creative culture that focuses on players and delivering quality content.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a creative partner to the Executive Producer (EP) and Game Director, ensuring alignment and parity with product strategy and creative direction.
  • Define, maintain, and communicate the creative vision for Teamfight Tactics in support of the overall game vision.
  • Shepherd the creative direction of the product from concept through completion.
  • Accountable for the consistency, cohesion, fidelity and overall excellence of the total creative experience.
  • Communicate the IP internally and externally in ways that inspire developers and players.
  • Provide a creative and IP lens to product, portfolio, and ecosystem decisions as a member of the Game Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with production to build and improve processes that support timely, high-quality creative work.
  • Establish & uphold creative direction expectations, feedback philosophies, priorities and quality standards across the product for all creative craft leads.
  • Build and lead a strong creative leadership team representing key creative crafts, including Art, Audio, and Narrative.
  • Ensure creative leadership collaborates effectively across the team, including with product, production, engineering, quality, design, and publishing creative leadership.
  • Be accountable for the hiring, development, performance, growth, and overall culture of creative leaders and direct reports.
  • Ensure performance measurement and best practices are consistent with product leadership and the creative department.
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years industry experience in holistic game development process
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Proven record of driving and delivering quality work in collaboration with art, narrative, audio and design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports in Lead roles or higher
  • Knowledge of current game development and creative trends
Desired Qualifications:
  • Has shipped multiple full-games as a Creative Director or key Creative decision maker
  • Demonstrated experience, passion for, and understanding of strategy games
  • Experience with stylized multiplatform games, particularly on PC and mobile
  • Experience and passion for the League of Legends IP
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports in Director roles or higher
  • Experience managing franchise level product and creative decisions affecting multiple platforms and diverse audience needs
  • Experience developing a global game with an understanding of different regional gaming cultures
  • Experience collaborating with publishing or marketing teams and driving creative decisions across development and publishing
