Job description

We are seeking a Sr. Art Director to join our growing team.

Here is a summary of the role:

This experienced candidate will play an essential role in the conception and creation of compelling, on-brand strategies and campaigns across multiple channels. This person would bring exceptional creative thought and craft output, developing and delivering projects from brief to end user. This person would approach every brief with fresh eyes and create and inspire distinctive, effective, and truly remarkable work.

A note on how we're hiring for this role: We're hiring an Art Director and a Copywriter at the same time, and we have a strong preference for hiring them as a team. If you already work with a creative partner and you're both interested, we'd love to see you apply together. Send shaista.jiwani@tandemtheory.com an email with both your portfolios or even a joint portfolio. If you're applying solo, we still want to hear from you — great individuals will be considered.

What you will do:

  • Create on-strategy designs (both animated and static) for campaigns across multiple channels, including emails, digital banners, web, mobile, print, presentations, social, and more.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal teams and clients and teams
  • Bring beauty to web projects working hand-in-hand with User Experience teams.
  • Confidently present to clients and prospective clients alike
  • Stay current on design knowledge and trends, especially in the interactive space
  • Work alongside the Creative Director and other designers to craft design solutions that meet briefs and/or company objectives – as well as timelines and budgets

What you should have:

  • 2-6 years of experience in marketing and/or advertising, preferably in an agency environment
  • 3+ years of industry experience + managing client-facing projects preferred
  • A killer portfolio demonstrating your awesomeness. (REQUIRED)
  • Extensive experience with both Figma and the Adobe suite, particularly Illustrator, After Effects, and Photoshop
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Fluency with digital communication and project management tools and ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Fearless and boundlessly creative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must have a strong background in creative web design and interactive technology
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, dynamic, deadline-driven work environment
  • Passion for our craft: culture, design, creativity, and technology
  • Excellent presentation skills

Tandem Theory is made up of people just like you — smart, curious, and collaborative folks who believe building an agency should be both challenging and fun. We operate like a startup: things move quickly, expectations are high, and you’ll have the opportunity to wear multiple hats and make a real impact.

You’ll work on meaningful, high-level projects and engage directly with clients, not sit on the sidelines. We’re a flat, team-first organization where ownership is expected and ideas are welcomed — regardless of title.

As a remote-first company, we value flexibility, but also discipline in how we work. We believe in pairing human judgment with technology to work smarter, find time for higher-impact thinking, and continuously improve how we operate.

And yes — while we work from home, maybe save the pajamas for after hours.

Here is a little bit about us:

At Tandem Theory, we believe in growing together. When our clients grow, our agency grows, and every Theorist grows too.

Our approach is simple: Humans + Technology = Growth.

We lead with human judgment, strong relationships, and accountability, while using technology to create leverage, consistency, and smarter ways of working. This combination allows us to move faster, reduce waste, and focus on what truly drives impact.

Our culture is built on how we show up every day — through Teamwork, Transparency, and Trust — and how we operate:

  • We find time by working efficiently and eliminating low-value work
  • We communicate directly and don’t operate in silos
  • We run disciplined, effective meetings
  • We stay proactive, curious, and grounded in data

This is what enables us to go beyond table stakes and deliver real partnership to our clients — bringing forward thoughtful, business-building ideas that drive results.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Tandem partners with leading brands who value simple, impactful solutions, transparent pricing, and performance-driven outcomes.

Other than waking up and being excited to get to work each day, here are some additional benefits:

The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range. Benefits include 85% employer-paid medical, eligibility to participate in vision and dental insurance as well company paid STD, LTD coverage plus a flat amount company paid toward Basic Life and AD&D, as well as a generous 401(k) retirement contribution plan eligible after 90-days of employment.

Working Conditions:

We operate as a work, not live, from anywhere model and utilize the office space as a co-working space as needed. That said, whether in the office or at a remote location, we try to operate in the traditional office norm model. You will be working with a computer, telephone, copier, or other office equipment as necessary for long stretches of time. There may be some occasional long, irregular hours. You are expected to communicate effectively (verbal and written), and maintain professionalism under stress. Occasionally you will need to bend, pull, push and/or reach to access job-related materials. You will also be expected to work with frequent interruptions such as Slack messages, emails, phone calls, drive-by visits to your desk, whether that is from a co-worker at the office or your dog barking while working remotely. All our calls are held on video, as it is important to see facial expressions and reactions to work in a collaborative environment.

Eligibility

All new employees must provide documented proof of their identity and employment authorization and pass a background screening process. No work Visa sponsorships are available at this time. We are currently not accepting applicants that reside in the State of California.
