THE JOB

The Director of Social Media is responsible for serving as a key strategic and operational leader in expanding the Company's brand story across all social media platforms and owned channels, while overseeing the social presence of individual MGM Resorts brands and key business verticals. Depending on organizational alignment, the Director may focus on leading the brand story, community engagement, and brand reputation management processes, or could focus on building, scaling, and managing the editorial, workflow, and governance frameworks for a centralized Social Media Center of Excellence. This leader will guide a team of social media managers and strategists to create content and editorial calendars that drive engagement, support brand reputation, and ensure strict collaboration on brand standards, voice, and tone. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

Lead, coach, and develop a team of social media managers and strategists, setting clear performance goals, establishing workload priorities, and building individual growth plans to foster a high-performance culture

Inform and oversee the execution of social media strategy, from audience insight and content ideation through to editorial planning, publishing, and optimization, ensuring all plans align with corporate business outcomes

Translate enterprise priorities into localized, property-level social campaigns, partnering with cross-functional teams such as Brand Marketing, Food and Beverage, Entertainment, Public Relations, and Paid Media

Oversee the social media operating model for assigned business verticals, which could include defining editorial workflows, establishing brand safety governance, managing approval frameworks, and stewarding assigned budgets

Lead the selection, enablement, and daily utilization of enterprise social management and listening platforms (such as Sprinklr or Emplifi) to optimize team workflows, maintain brand standards, and enhance social reporting

Coordinate and deliver integrated paid and organic social campaigns that support business partner objectives, leading production budgeting, accruals, vendor coordination, and return on investment tracking

Direct teams to utilize a variety of data, social listening tools, and audience insights to analyze online conversations and translate performance metrics into executive-ready strategic narratives

Build and animate motion graphics, templates, lower thirds, or brand assets, or could oversee teams and external agencies tasked with delivering these creative assets to ensure the company brand promise is met

May evaluate, test, and champion emerging social platforms, content formats, and artificial intelligence assisted workflows while establishing governance rules to protect brand safety

May drive influencer marketing initiatives and coordinate with external partners to amplify product offerings, resort experiences, and expand brand reach

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 4+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience in leading and developing a team of social media managers required
  • 6+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience in social media marketing, online community engagement, digital marketing, or brand strategy required
