Technician – Body Weld Metrology / Quality

Location: Georgetown, KY (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Technician to support new model launches within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role focuses on body weld quality validation, tooling verification, and pre-production build support.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with portable CMM equipment, body structure validation, and automotive or aerospace metrology processes. This position plays a key role in ensuring part accuracy, tooling performance, and successful new model introduction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect body weld tooling and verify part accuracy using portable CMM equipment
  • Support new model and pre-production build activities
  • Gather and analyze dimensional data from engineering systems and quality software
  • Perform quality inspections using hand tools, fixtures, and measurement devices
  • Troubleshoot tooling, fitment, and dimensional issues during trial builds
  • Analyze quality data and provide feedback to engineering and project teams
  • Support sheet metal sub-assembly and body build activities during launch events
  • Maintain schedules and support project timelines
  • Work collaboratively across manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams
Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of Automotive or Aerospace Quality Metrology experience
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal quality inspection and body structure validation
  • Experience using portable CMM equipment, scanners, or laser trackers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable working overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as needed
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with FARO, Vectorarm, Leica, Creaform, or similar portable CMM systems
  • Familiarity with PolyWorks, CAM2, PC-DMIS, Scene, or similar inspection software
