Job Description
The Multi-Craft Technician is a highly skilled, hands-on technical professional responsible for advanced fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple skilled trades. This role supports manufacturing, laboratory, and facility operations by performing complex mechanical, structural, piping, and equipment-related work with minimal supervision. The position requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and the flexibility to support varied project and maintenance needs in an industrial or laboratory environment.Analyze specifications, set-up and operate machine tools to make and repair a sequence of operations such as fabricating tools, dies, jigs or fixtures. Must have knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings.

Duties:
  • Interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions to determine materials, dimensions, and installation requirements.
  • Support equipment reconfiguration, relocation, and commissioning activities, including rigging and material handling.
  • Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineers, supervisors, and vendors to complete work safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate work logs, work orders, job documentation, and material receipts.
  • Order materials, track parts, and assist with inventory organization and control.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and applicable construction or maintenance equipment.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; actively promote a strong safety culture.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced trades personnel when needed.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in relative field a plus.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in a multi-craft, mechanical, industrial, laboratory, or facilities support role; or equivalent combination of experience, technical training, and vocational education.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex, cross-disciplinary trade work in an industrial or technical environment. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Trade certifications, vocational training, or technical coursework strongly preferred (but not required).

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system. An individual may require knowledge of database software for tracking work orders, time and training.
