Product Designer, CMS

Figma

San Francisco, CA โ€ข On-site, Remote

Job description

We're looking for product designers who are excited to shape how teams build together. At Figma, design isn't just how something looks-it's how it works, how it feels, and how it scales. Our designers are systems thinkers, prototypers, storytellers, and craftspeople who care deeply about quality and collaboration. In this role, you'll turn ambiguity into clarity, push the product forward with engineers, PMs, and researchers, and help us invent new ways for people to design and build products together.

With an eye for simplicity and craft, curiosity for complex systems, and an appetite for technical challenges, you can help define the future of how software is made.

This is a unique opportunity for a designer who loves both craft and technical depth. You'll prototype, build, and ship alongside engineers while helping define foundational experiences that support millions of creators across Figma.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:
  • Design and ship end-to-end experiences that help organize, manage, and deliver content across Figma's products, as part of the Content Management Systems team
  • Partner closely with engineering to shape platform capabilities and technical infrastructure that support CMS and open-source initiatives
  • Translate technically complex systems into intuitive, elegant user experiences
  • Prototype early and often to explore ideas, validate concepts, and communicate nuanced interaction and technical decisions
  • Contribute to product strategy and long-term vision by bringing together customer insights, product thinking, and technical understanding
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and designers throughout the product development process
  • Help raise the quality bar across the organization through thoughtful feedback, design critiques, and mentorship
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • 4+ years of experience designing UX and UI for a software product of similar scale and complexity
  • Exceptional product design craft with strong visual and interaction skills, especially in complex software where systems thinking matters as much as any individual screen - with a proven ability to simplify technically complex systems into intuitive, thoughtful user experiences
  • Code is part of your design process, not something you wait to hand off. You build working prototypes to explore interaction ideas, understand technical possibilities, and communicate a direction
  • Demonstrated ability to move fast, forming a point of view, testing it, and adjusting course without waiting for complete information
  • Ability to define a clear product and design vision in ambiguous spaces, using customer insights, qualitative research, and product data to guide decisions
  • Track record of independently driving design from discovery through launch, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
  • Naturally curious about how software is built, with strong cross-functional partnerships across design, engineering, product management, and research - raising the quality of work through thoughtful collaboration, feedback, and a deep care for the workflows of designers, developers, and other creative makers
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
  • Experience building and shipping software through coding, AI-assisted development, or other technical approaches
  • Background designing content management systems, asset management platforms, or foundational platform products
  • Familiarity designing developer tools, APIs, SDKs, or other highly technical product experiences
  • Contributions to or designing for open-source software

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
