Job description

POSITION SUMMARY


The Art Frames Cut and Joint Team Lead supports daily production operations by coordinating tasks, guiding team members, and upholding quality and safety standards. This hands-on role involves working alongside the team while helping to maintain workflow, equipment readiness, and communication with leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Daily Team Coordination
    1. Assist in assigning daily work orders based on schedule priorities.
    2. Act as a liaison between production staff and supervisors.
    3. Support new hires with on-the-job training and demonstration equipment.
    4. Communicate updates, safety reminders, and process changes to team members.
  2. Hands-On Production
    1. Operate frame cutting and joining equipment (e.g., miter saws, underpinners).
    2. Review job tickets and verify the accuracy of cut measurements and angles.
    3. Assist with setup and minor adjustments of cutting/jointing machines.
    4. Monitor glue usage, V-nail fitting, and frame assembly techniques.
  3. Quality Assurance
    1. Perform in-process checks on cut and joined frames.
    2. Notify the supervisor of any quality defects, rework needs, or recurring issues.
    3. Promote attention to detail and craftsmanship among the team.
  4. Equipment & Safety Monitoring
    1. Ensure safe usage of machinery and enforce proper PPE usage.
    2. Report safety hazards, malfunctions, or equipment concerns immediately.
    3. Assist in performing minor maintenance or cleanup of framing tools.
  5. Materials Support
    1. Track moldings, nails, glue, and tools needed for the current shift.
    2. Notify the inventory team or supervisor of low or damaged materials.
  6. Team Support & Problem-Solving
    1. Help resolve minor production issues or delays on the floor.
    2. Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
    3. Provide feedback to the supervisor on individual and team performance.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Skills
    1. Proficient in reading cut sheets and frame measurements.
    2. Skilled in operating saws, under pinners, and other framing tools.
    3. Familiar with safety protocols, especially machine safety and LOTO basics.
    4. Good communication, teamwork, and time management abilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Technical or trade coursework in woodworking preferred.
  3. 2+ years of experience in frame cutting, joining, or woodworking
  4. Prior experience in a lead or trainer role in a production setting preferred

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

  1. OSHA 10-Hour (General Industry)
  2. Forklift or material handling (if applicable)
  3. CPR/First Aid (preferred for team safety awareness)
