Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – Anesthesia Coding Specialist

Location: Hybrid (Office and Remote Work)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Revenue Cycle Management / Medical Coding

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Certified Professional Coder (CPC) with a strong background in Anesthesia Coding to join our team in a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in anesthesia coding and billing, a thorough understanding of payer regulations, and a commitment to coding accuracy and compliance.

This position offers a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility while supporting our anesthesia and revenue cycle operations.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and anesthesia-specific codes.
  • Review anesthesia records to ensure proper coding and reimbursement.
  • Apply anesthesia billing rules including:
    • Base units
    • Time units
    • Physical status modifiers
    • Qualifying circumstances
    • Medical direction and supervision requirements
  • Review claims for coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve coding-related denials.
  • Collaborate with providers, billers, and revenue cycle teams.
  • Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on coding updates and payer policy changes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of anesthesia coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia coding guidelines and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements.
  • Proficiency with EHR and practice management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Additional certifications such as CANPC, COC, CPMA, CRC, or CPC-I.
