Job Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support the accounting department by analyzing financial information, maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing payments, preparing payroll, and other essential accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized with strong mathematical skills and previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the accuracy of charges and payments.
  • Track vendor and subcontractor documentation, including W-9s, insurance, contracts, lien waivers, and other required documents as applicable.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and developments.
  • Enter financial data and transactions.
  • Analyze budgets and other financial information.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements.
  • Verify the accuracy of transactions that have been entered.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Create accounting policies to comply with all rules and regulations.
  • Process and review payroll and supporting payroll documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
  • Handle general accounting functions, including AP, AR, reconciliations, journal entries, and account review.
  • Monitor contract compliance and financial requirements associated with company projects.
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation before payment.
  • Assist with job-cost accounting and project-related financial tracking.
  • Maintain organized accounting and contract files.
  • Assist with financial reports and provide requested financial information to leadership.
  • Work with the company's CPA, payroll provider, bonding company, insurance providers, and other financial partners as needed.
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve them rather than simply processing questionable charges.
  • Follow established approval procedures and maintain appropriate internal controls.
  • Complete accounting tasks in the proper sequence and ensure prerequisites are satisfied before moving to the next step.
Other accounting and administrative duties as assigned based on company needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field 
  • Previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, or similar position
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Good with spreadsheets, experienced in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and basic accounting systems
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
  • Construction accounting, payroll, job costing, and contract compliance experience are strongly preferred.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • ADP Run knowledge required 
  • Connect Team knowledge preferred.
