How much do cpa cfe jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 9, 2026, the average yearly pay for cpa cfe in the United States is $93,114.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $68,000.00 and $115,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do CPAs with a CFE certification typically balance investigative work with traditional accounting responsibilities?

CPAs who also hold the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential often split their time between standard accounting duties, such as audits and financial reporting, and investigative tasks like analyzing anomalies, conducting interviews, and preparing reports for legal proceedings. This dual role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to pivot between routine financial analysis and in-depth forensic investigations. Collaboration with legal teams, internal audit departments, and sometimes law enforcement is common, especially when fraud is suspected. Balancing these responsibilities can be challenging, but it offers a dynamic work environment and unique opportunities for professional growth.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A CPA CFE (Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner) typically requires a degree and professional certification, so earning $10,000 a month without a degree is uncommon in this field. However, high-income roles such as sales managers, real estate brokers, or entrepreneurs in certain industries can reach that income level without a formal degree, often relying on experience, skills, and networking. These roles may involve commission-based pay, business ownership, or specialized expertise.

What are CPA CFE professionals?

CPA CFE professionals are Certified Public Accountants (CPA) who have also earned the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential. These individuals are experts in accounting, auditing, and financial analysis, with specialized skills in detecting and preventing fraud. They are qualified to investigate financial discrepancies, conduct forensic audits, and provide expert testimony in legal cases. Their dual certification demonstrates a high level of expertise and ethical standards in both accounting and fraud examination.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a CPA CFE, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CPA CFE, you need a strong background in accounting, auditing, and forensic investigation, supported by Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credentials. Familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, forensic tools such as IDEA or ACL, and auditing systems is typically required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong ethical judgment are standout soft skills in this role.
