Job description

  • Must be 21 years of age or older 
  • Proficient in English verbal and written 
  • Incumbent must possess basic mechanical skills, good reasoning ability and have a willingness to learn the duties required to advance in the engineering department 
  • Incumbent must have a QMED certification with "Oiler" endorsement or professional equivalent 
  • Previous mechanical experience is advantageous. 
  • Must pass re-employment drug test. 
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays 
  • Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, if applicable. 
  • Access to the vessel is required.

     ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing at least 50 pounds and push or pull items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance. 
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to high noise levels 
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to vibration, rotary, oscillating tools and equipment 
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to heat and cold (equipment and environment) 
  • Expected to work outside in all conditions 
  • Expected to work on a boat or work float on the side of the casino 
  • Must be physically able to crawl, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist and grip items as needed 
  • Must be able to work on a lift and/or ladder with proper training 
  • Must be able to wear properly PPE as required 
  • Must be able to work exposed to smoke, dust and vapors 
  • Must be able to work/with around various liquids including but not limited sewage, oil, fuel, cleaning chemicals and lake water 
  • Must be able to work around/with welding, wood cutting, metal grinding/cutting and various methods of fabrication 
  • Must be able to work around and with electrical appliances, equipment, etc
  •  Must be able to work with a variety of hand tools
  •  Assists in performing general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs of the vessel, machinery and equipment under the guidance of the Chief or Assistant Engineers. 
  • Assists in various projects, inspections, and assigned work not covered in previous duties. 
  • Perform duties to ensure safe working conditions/habits and complete required safety training. 
  • Maintain clean and organized machinery spaces. 
  • Properly use, maintain, and return all tools and equipment used during the course of your shift. 
  • Able to react to change productivity and to handle other tasks as assigned. 
  • Perform assigned duties during emergency response situations. 
  • Properly utilize the work order system. 
  • Substitute leadership role when there is no licensed assistant engineer on shift. 
  • Lead marine tasks to ensure safe working conditions/habits. 
  • Coxswain of rescue and/or work boats as assigned. 
  • Maintain proper safety and regulatory work logs. 
  • Assist with training engine utilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
