We are seeking an individual who is Committed, Kind, Knowledgeable and Respectful to assume our Assistant Director of Health Services (Nursing) role (Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse) and be a part of an excellent, collaborative team at our beautiful Green Campus.
Summary of Position:
In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Assistant Director of Health Services is responsible for, in conjunction with the Director of Health Services, providing 24-hour overall leadership and management of the health and wellbeing of the residents living in assisted living and memory care communities at the site in which they are assigned (including independent living communities if applicable based on site). In addition, this position has 24-hour responsibility to organize, supervise, schedule, and direct the staff assigned within their credentials and position, markets the program, participates in continued professional development, works on an on-call rotation and the floor if needed, and performs other job duties as assigned.
General Representation of the key duties and responsibilities of this position are below (not an all-inclusive list); other duties may be assigned, as required:
  • Under the direction of the Director of Health Services, assists with coordinating care and services provided in Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Independent Living communities for which they work for.
  • Demonstrates the ability, knowledge, and skills necessary to coordinate care services appropriate to the residents served. Utilizes the nursing process.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities by presenting as a professional role model to staff, developing collaborative relationships, using interpersonal skills effectively including the ability to communicate, solve problems, make decisions, supervise and direct care provided by nursing assistants, and assist in orientation and education of staff.
  • Monitors work performance of all staff. When directing tasks requiring urgent attention, the Assistant Director of Health Services advises appropriate department director and Director of Health Services after task has been delegated. For tasks needing attention but are not urgent in nature, the Assistant Director of Health Services will advise the appropriate department director and Director of Health Services with their recommendation.
  • Responsible for compliance of current Ohio Residential Care Facility (RCF) rules and regulations.
  • Works closely with Director of Health Services to ensure clinical rules are met in daily operations.
  • Participates in “on-call” rotation with nurse management team.
  • In conjunction with The Village of St. Edward Admissions, completes and assists with the admissions process as necessary.
  • Responsible for effective resident relations, to include handling of resident concerns and resident suggestions.
  • Schedules floor staff within the staffing guidelines and attempts to replace when a report off occurs.
  • Interviews STNA/Resident Assistants and Nurses with direction of Director of Health Services.
  • Orders supplies for medical and clerical needs.
  • Completes daily nursing direct care staffing form for posting.
  • Completes accurate data entry (including attendance points and review of timecards) into the time and attendance system timely.
  • Assists with payroll completion and prepares various payroll reports.
  • Schedules and coordinates for resident appointments within and outside of facility.
  • Attends required in-services for assisted living/memory care and facility.
  • Assists with all filing as needed and distributes copies as requested.
  • Faxes necessary documents to physicians, pharmacy as other outside providers.
  • Keeps forms current and available for use in department.
  • Assists to prepare required paperwork for labs, discharges, admissions and transfers etc.
  • Prepares required records/papers for physicians and consultants.
  • Follows established policies of the facility.
  • Assists with Covid-19 Testing of residents and/or staff
  • Complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) which ensures that the resident’s individually identifiable health information or Protected Health Information (PHI) is kept confidential.
  • Promotes opportunities for participation in activities by all the residents according to their needs, interests and abilities, both physical and mental.
  • Assists and/or attends special functions sponsored by The Village of St. Edward.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and meets performance expectations
  • Supports the philosophy of person-centered care (PCC) by actively participating in the person-centered care process. Fosters development and enhancement of person-centered care practices.
Requirements:
  • Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Ohio or Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Ohio
  • 1-3 years experience in management or has leadership responsibility in Long Term Care, Assisted Living or Home Health
  • Current BLS or CPR/AED certification
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently, and over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Possess the necessary dexterity to perform injections.
  • Possesses the ability to bend, stoop, and reach at different angles.
  • Walks, stands and sits intermittently during the day.
  • Must work effectively with residents, families and public on personal basis.
  • Possesses and demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates evidence of leadership abilities, clinical competence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage and supervise staff appropriately.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Efficient with computers and online programs.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, knowledge of fax, scanners, and other technology.
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records, preferably Point Click Care.
