Job Description:
The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is seeking a mental health professional with experience in collegiate mental health and expertise, and/or specialization, in couples and relationship counseling. This clinician should thrive in an environment that values collaboration and support among team members and will work with us to foster the development of our students in all its variety through compassion, empowerment, advocacy, and hope as well as help us nurture a healthy and healing university environment for all.
We are seeking a professional at any point in their professional development with a strong interest in working with domestic and international students in a university counseling center. The clinical associate/assistant professor and Couples & Relationship Coordinator's primary responsibility is to provide direct clinical services (e.g., group, individual and couples counseling) to University of Florida students; as well as coordinate the couples counseling program at the CWC, including clinical services and training program elements. Potential colleagues should have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of severity. Clinical faculty members also provide consultation to UF faculty and staff and are engaged in providing professional training and teaching to graduate students, doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. Similarly, all faculty take part in outreach, intervention and prevention efforts. Faculty also are expected to participate in the center's model of shared governance through the coordination of specific initiatives, membership or chairing of committees or task forces. In addition to experience with couples & relationship counseling, the successful candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas related to collegiate mental health: assessment/psychological testing, neurodivergence, alcohol & other drug use, trauma, disordered eating concerns, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, and/or psychotherapy and outreach with students from a range of identities/cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Leadership and coordination of all clinical processes undergirding the Counseling & Wellness Center's (CWC) couples & relationship counseling program.
- Conducting initial phone consultations with couples seeking services at the CWC to determine appropriateness for CWC couples program.
- Providing oversight for the initial scheduling process, including coordinating with couples counselors within the CWC as well as our clinical support team.
- Serving as the point of contact for consultation related to couples & relationship counseling at the CWC.
- Collaborating with the Associate Director for Training to provide couples related group and individual supervision/training to five psychology interns completing internship at the CWC. This includes a 2 to 3-hour introductory seminar for couples & relationship counseling.
- Facilitating couples case consultation for CWC clinicians who are providing couples services at the CWC.
- Developing strategic outreach programming and announcements related to couples programming at the CWC.
- Providing compiled data/information related to appointment statistics for the couples program to the Associate Director for Clinical Services.
- Identifying and organizing various training opportunities for couples counselors at the CWC.
- Serving as the point person in developing and finalizing the couples concentration in collaboration with current CWC interns.
About the Counseling and Wellness Center
Mental health services at the University of Florida have historically held a strong importance and distinction in the campus community. The CWC is one of the oldest counseling centers in the country, established in 1931. The CWC is a vibrant, multidisciplinary, multicultural, and creative center, actively engaged in the furtherance and betterment of compassionate psychological services, outreach, and training. The CWC is a dynamic part of the Division of Student Life and is highly utilized by students and other campus constituents seeking a variety of mental health services.
Our center consists of 47 clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and counselor education. CWC is also home to a large training program for graduate students in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and a doctoral psychology internship accredited by the American Psychological Association. Members of our center are cohesive, collegial, engaged, and share a passion for working in collegiate mental health. The CWC is a learning organization as clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer institutions. The CWC identifies closely with the vision, values, and guiding principles of the Division of Student Life.
The CWC provides:
- Group, individual, and couples counseling for students with psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
- Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
- Stress management and biofeedback services
- Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff
- Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends of students
- Training and supervision to counseling, psychology, and graduate students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral residency
- Assessment and referral services
- Teaching, research, and scholarship

Other Requirements:
