Key Result Areas of Responsibility:
1. Curriculum development and implementation:
A. Assisting in set up and implementation of planned activities will follow staff directions in relationship to health & safety and all other classroom issue.
B. Creates a warm, responsive and respectful environment for children and adults, responsible for learning positive approaches to discipline and other issues as trained by CDC Leadership staff.
C. Responsible for supporting, learning and utilizing the aspects of our program: Basic Health & Safety issues; appropriate adult-child interactions and anti-bias curriculum.
2. Creation of safe and educational environment:
A. Is responsible for learning (during orientation and training) and following through on the health & safety as well as adult-child interaction policies of CDC.
B. Responsible to participate in the maintenance of classroom storage areas and materials in a neat and orderly manner.
C. Responsible to maintain material usage in such a way to maximize the resources of CDC.
3. Maintain Written Developmental Records for Children and classroom:
A. Substitute Teacher may be asked to actively participating in efforts in collecting observational anecdotal records, documentation photos, children's writing and art samples for maintenance of the child's portfolio
4. Limitations of position:
This position is an "on-call" basis only position. Hours and daily work schedule will be dependent upon overall center and individual classroom need. The Substitute Assistant Teacher can be called each day for requested hours to work, or may be scheduled in advance by individual classroom staff, teachers or Team Leaders. The Substitute Assistant Teacher is not eligible for benefits, but should participate in all training (such as Staff-Inservice training). The Substitute Assistant Teacher is responsible for attending/working on the days scheduled and agreed upon. If such event where unable to work, another substitute will need to be called by you.
Position Requirements:
1. Education requirements: The applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have completed 6 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Also must have or obtain a clear criminal clearance (fingerprint clearance) through the FBI and DOJ.( Minimum requirement for employment).
2. Required Skills/knowledge: Must demonstrate knowledge and willingness to learn child growth and development, positive child guidance techniques, and basic classroom management. The substitute assistant teacher must demonstrate good inter-personal relations, such as tact, patience and courtesy in dealing with children, families and co-workers.
3. Limitations of Authority: The Substitute Assistant Teacher must be supervised when participating in the classroom activities. The Substitute Assistant may not supervise children alone. The Substitute Assistant Teacher is not to discuss children's developmental issues, disciplines or other issues which could be difficult and beyond training level. May only discuss the day's events, or child's activities that are positive in nature.
