Job description

Summary of Position:
Chicago Metropolitan Stone Fabricators is looking for a Countertop Fabricator Trainee who is willing to learn about the countertop business! Our team is dedicated to providing quality training to ensure that all employees feel safe and comfortable with the work they are performing each day.
Granite amp; Quartz Countertop Fabricators are responsible for the creation of finished countertops by using hand tools and state of the art machinery to cut down and polish stone material.
This position is involved in the final stages of the fabrication process, and requires detail-oriented workers. Our team is currently hiring 3-4 fabricators who are eager to learn and work in a great environment!

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
● Fabrication and installation process knowledge.
● Can read a tape measure to the 16th inch.
● Ability to lift heavy objects.
● Assist with client viewings of countertop slabs.
● Execute production, material fulfillment, slab inventory management and maintenance.
● Ability to operate machinery safely and effectively to complete customer orders.
● Cut, grind and polish stone using hand tools and high-powered water jet saws.
● Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Ability to recognize flaws within a workflow and problem-solve to find a creative solution.
● Can read a detailed shop sheet/ticket with measurement specifications to check dimensions, drawings, form,
fit and function of countertops.
● Ability to remain focused on the task at hand and meet deadlines to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled to
exact specifications.
● Must be able to exhibit great attention to detail, and communicate with fellow employees in a professional manner.
● Having a thorough understanding of safe warehouse operations.
● Ability to learn how to operate the necessary machinery and hand tools needed to complete customer orders.
● Capacity to work in a team environment in order to creatively/safely solve problems as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Warehouse experience (Forklift certification is a plus, however, our team will provide training if necessary!)
● Willingness to learn about CNC machinery. (Training will be provided!)
