WHAT YOU'LL DO
Serve as an Instructor for Security/Counterterrorism Courses as a subject matter expert in Vehicle Dynamics, Motorcade Operations, Counter IED, Surveillance Detection and other related areas. 

 The ideal candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Reviewing established training objectives, lesson plans, training materials, and instructional methods prior to the beginning of assigned courses.
  • Researching and reviewing current intelligence related to security missions and introducing applicable information into driver training courses.  
  • Ensuring that training objectives have been met by analyzing trainees, feedback from instructors, and through personal observations.
  • Identifying the need for revisions to course content, materials, or instructional methods to improve the effectiveness and quality of the driver training curriculum.
  • Assisting instructors in other security related subjects including terrorist operations, surveillance detection, attack recognition, and motorcade operations.
  • May serve as lead instructor for assigned courses.
  • Aiding Lead instructor during practical exercises as necessary.
  • Keeping abreast of current security techniques, methods, and procedures in the security/counterterrorism driving, vehicle dynamics, and motorcade operations areas.
  • Instructing/Teaching in a classroom environment with a wide range of students.
  • Providing instruction on the parts and functions of vehicles to include fully armored SUVs.
  • Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations and calm students who are in distress.
  • Reporting all accidents/incidents to the Lead instructor.
  • May assist in vehicle recovery when requested.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a non-exempt, part-time, as-needed position.
  • Hours vary based on course schedules.
  • There may be times when training exercises take place off-site. 


WORK CONDITIONS

This position is very active and requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, use of hands, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions throughout the workday. The employee must have close visual acuity and the ability to occasionally lift and move items over 50 pounds. 

Typical assignments are frequently performed in both internal and external environments with a variety of weather conditions. Certain driving exercises may include controlled vehicle-to-vehicle contact scenarios at speeds of up to 25 mph.

This role may involve the presence and controlled use of training weapons, including firearms and less-lethal devices, as part of authorized security and counterterrorism training exercises. All weapons-related activities are conducted in accordance with established safety protocols, training standards, and applicable laws. Instructors are required to model, enforce, and adhere to strict weapons safety procedures at all times.

Ability to work with exposure to dust or dirt, noise, vibration, and other hazards is routine and may require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The worker is frequently in close quarters and may be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

Requirements

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Required:

  • Instructor with 4 years' experience in Military, Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue or Motorsports with direct experience relevant to      advanced vehicle operations, security, or emergency response.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely conduct and instruct advanced driving maneuvers, including high-risk and emergency      response scenarios, in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Sound judgment and situational awareness when operating vehicles in dynamic training environments, with the ability to assess risk and take corrective action to prevent injury or damage.
  • Willingness and ability to comply with, model, and enforce all driving safety standards, operational controls, and training procedures, recognizing the potential consequences of unsafe      actions.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills for audiences of all levels.
  • Work independently or collaboratively as needed.
  • Work in both internal and external environments with a variety of weather conditions. 
  • Ability to work with exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and hazards is routine and may require the use of protective personal equipment.
  • Basic computer and program knowledge to include PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening, consistent with applicable laws.
  • Employment is contingent on the completion of the Summit Point weapons qualification course.
