Omaha Slings is looking for a dependable, customer-focused Counter Sales Representative to join our team in Omaha, NE.

This is a full-time, in-person position working directly with customers who rely on us for industrial lifting, rigging, material-handling, safety, and related products. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is comfortable learning technical products, and can provide knowledgeable, accurate service in a fast-paced counter sales environment.

You do not need to know every product on day one. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, willing to learn, dependable, and comfortable helping customers determine what they need.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet and assist walk-in and phone customers in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Help customers identify the appropriate products for their needs.
  • Learn our product lines, including lifting slings, wire rope, chain, rigging hardware, material-handling equipment, tie-down products, safety equipment, and related industrial supplies.
  • Answer customer questions regarding products, availability, pricing, and orders.
  • Prepare quotes and process customer orders accurately.
  • Enter orders and customer information into the company computer system.
  • Assist customers with product pickup and counter transactions.
  • Communicate with production and warehouse team members regarding product availability and custom orders.
  • Follow up on customer orders and help resolve order or product questions.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and professional sales counter and showroom area.
  • Stock and organize merchandise as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with new and returning customers.
  • Learn to recognize opportunities to recommend additional products or solutions based on customer needs.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the sales and operations team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous counter sales, retail sales, customer service, inside sales, warehouse, construction supply, industrial supply, or related experience is preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with customers both in person and over the phone.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and order accuracy.
  • Mechanical aptitude or an interest in learning industrial and technical products.
  • Ability to learn product specifications and terminology.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple customer requests.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a retail counter, warehouse, and industrial supply environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and move products as required.

Experience That Would Be a Plus

Experience with any of the following is helpful but not required:

  • Industrial or construction supply
  • Rigging or lifting equipment
  • Wire rope, chain, slings, or hardware
  • Material-handling equipment
  • Fasteners, tools, or safety equipment
  • Warehouse or parts-counter sales
  • Contractor or B2B customer service
  • Inside sales

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

We are looking for someone who will ask good questions, pay attention to details, learn the products, and make sure the customer leaves with the right solution.

This is a great opportunity for someone with retail, parts, industrial supply, warehouse, or customer service experience who wants to build stronger product knowledge and grow within an established industrial business.
