DescriptionSummary:
The successful candidate will teach core courses and, depending on their concentration, classes in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialization or the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization. The rank and tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications.
Examples of DutiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the position include teaching graduate and undergraduate coursework in the Psychology & Counseling Department. Candidate will also assist with clinical coordination (e.g., Practicum and Internship) provide clinical and administrative supervision for clinical training, advisement responsibilities and engaging in service and scholarship.
Typical QualificationsMinimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- A terminal degree in Counseling and/or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited institution is required.
- Licensure or license eligibility in the state of Alabama.
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's areas of research and expertise.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision to students conducting therapy and psychological assessments at the department-run clinic.
- 5-7 years of demonstrated success in teaching graduate-level courses.
- 7-10 years of relevant professional counseling experience
- Commitment to cultural diversity and social justice
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Evidence of successful teaching/supervision at the graduate level via face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid delivery
- Experience as a supervisor for practicums and internships
- Experience with program development and accreditation preparation
