Counselor Assistant information

What is a counselor assistant?

Counselor Assistants are professionals who support licensed counselors, therapists, or psychologists in providing care to clients. Their duties often include administrative tasks, maintaining client records, assisting with group sessions, and helping clients with resources or information. They may work in schools, rehabilitation centers, mental health clinics, or social service agencies. While they do not typically provide therapy themselves, they play a vital role in supporting the overall counseling process and ensuring clients receive the help they need.

What are some common challenges counselor assistants face when supporting clients in a therapeutic setting?

Counselor Assistants often encounter challenges such as managing emotionally charged situations, maintaining professional boundaries, and supporting clients with diverse backgrounds and complex needs. They must balance empathy with objectivity while adhering to confidentiality and ethical guidelines. Regular collaboration with licensed counselors and participation in team meetings can help address these challenges and support ongoing professional development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a counselor assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Counselor Assistant, you typically need foundational knowledge of counseling practices, confidentiality protocols, and a relevant associate degree or certification. Familiarity with case management software, documentation systems, and scheduling tools is often required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and empathy help build rapport with clients and support the lead counselor effectively. These skills and qualifications ensure client trust, accurate record-keeping, and efficient support within counseling environments.

Job description

Executive Personal Assistant
Role Snapshot
We need someone who walks in with presence, takes charge immediately, and keeps pace with a high-pressure, high-output executive. You are bold, confident, razor sharp, and you like being the one who keeps everything moving. You anticipate needs before anyone speaks, command a fast-paced workflow without hesitation, and you do it with tact, professionalism, and discretion.
This is not a quiet desk job. Priorities change quickly. The pace is intense. You will be expected to move fast, think clearly under pressure, and execute without constant direction. Thick skin and a strong work ethic are required. There is zero tolerance for gossip, drama, or workplace politics. Nothing is beneath you. If it needs doing, you handle it.
Who You Are
  • High energy, action-oriented, and comfortable in a demanding environment
  • Thick skin, emotionally steady, and not easily rattled
  • Confident and authoritative without being abrasive or running people off
  • Professional, tactful, and aware of boundaries and chain of command
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and not a gossip
  • Tech savvy and quick to learn new systems

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the executive's calendar, scheduling, and day-to-day flow
  • Triage email, messages, and requests, filter noise, escalate what matters
  • Track tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups so nothing falls through the cracks
  • Coordinate meetings, logistics, and time-sensitive priorities
  • Prepare documents, summaries, and quick-turnaround admin deliverables
  • Handle errands and operational support tasks as assigned, including small tasks that keep the day moving
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, vendors, and external partners
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

Multi-Location Support
We operate across five office locations. This role requires occasional local travel between offices for meetings, pickups, drop-offs, and operational support. It is not daily travel, but you must be able and willing to do it when needed.
Compensation and Schedule
  • Full-time
  • $38k-$45k+, based on experience, reliability, speed, and demonstrated performance in a high-demand executive support role
  • Benefits (Healthcare, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Disability, Accident Insurance, Paid Time Off)

Minimum Requirements
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Comfort with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets) and everyday technology
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen
