We are a non-profit, FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, case management, community outreach, diabetes education, and pharmacy services. Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-timeHealthcare Controller.This position supports all SCC locations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; therefore, candidate must reside in the local market area of Albuquerque or Santa Fe, New Mexico and able to travel between the two cities as needed.

Position Details:

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Behavioral Health Counseling Clinician Manager is a working clinical leader responsible for the day-to-day clinical and administrative management of Southwest Care Center's Behavioral Health Counseling Department. The Manager leads the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based counseling and psychotherapy services within SCC's integrated primary care model while maintaining a regular client-facing counseling schedule.

This role balances direct counseling services with leadership responsibilities including clinical consultation and supervision of counseling staff, staff development, client access and workflow management, quality improvement, documentation and regulatory compliance, and collaboration with primary care and other interdisciplinary teams. The Manager supports timely access to behavioral health counseling within the primary care setting, strengthens integration of counseling services with the client's overall healthcare, and ensures counseling practices remain client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with organizational standards.

This position provides leadership specifically for SCC's behavioral health counseling services and counseling staff. It does not provide administrative or clinical oversight of psychiatric medical providers, psychiatric medication management, or other medical services.

Candidate Highlights:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or another behavioral health counseling discipline supporting independent clinical practice in New Mexico.

  • Current, unrestricted New Mexico independent behavioral health clinical license appropriate to providing counseling and psychotherapy services.

  • Minimum five years of behavioral health counseling and psychotherapy experience.

  • Minimum two years of supervisory, lead-clinician, or management experience within a counseling or behavioral health clinical setting.

  • Demonstrated experience with assessment, counseling and psychotherapy, treatment planning, crisis and risk assessment, safety planning, clinical documentation, and coordination of care.

  • Ability to maintain a direct counseling caseload while managing counseling staff and departmental administrative responsibilities.
