Job Description:
Summary:
The Costume Shop Technician reports directly to the Costume Shop Designer. Under the direction of the Costume Shop Designer, the technician will support the daily operations of the costume shop and create costumes for performances in the Greenberg Theatre and Katzen Arts Center.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist in all aspects of the costume shop daily operations and costume builds. With the Costume Shop Designer, they will supervise student staff in the costume shop and on wardrobe crews, participate in fittings, consultations, and shop work. They will build costumes as needed, perform alterations, and craftwork pertaining to their specialty.
  • Assist in maintaining costume facilities, and ensuring proper procedures are followed. Assist in managing and organizing extensive costume storage.
  • Support production work in both Katzen and Greenberg theatre (delivering/picking up costumes between spaces, assisting in stitching on Katzen shows, and supporting guest designers in both spaces)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • Part-time.
  • 20 hours per week (27 hours maximum).

Salary Range:

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years relevant work experience in costume or tailor shop.
