Position Summary The EDI Analyst is responsible for ensuring the integrity and flow of Costco's EDI system, which enables Costco to exchange ordering and payment information electronically with suppliers. The EDI Analyst provides external support to our suppliers and internal support to the Accounting, Buying, Traffic, and eCommerce departments.
They are responsible for the set up and maintenance of all trading partners, and for auditing the system for translation and communication errors. They will play a part in helping implement and support Costco's EDI Platforms. This includes at times playing a role in all projects related to EDI and the roll out of new EDI processes.
Candidates should have the ability to coordinate with business, vendors, and Costco IT groups to implement system upgrades and customizations. Job Duties/Essential Functions Works with suppliers, accounting, buying, and EDI third party providers to set up new trading partner relationships. Exchanges data requirements and maps with EDI third parties and suppliers.
Sets up trading partner profiles. Sets up interconnects with VANs. Works closely with VANs to track data.
Ensures the smooth transition from test to production. Maintains Buy UPC Code Maintenance. Maintains EDI Vendor Information record on all trading partner relationships.
Provides first-level support for problems and issues. Researches segments, elements, acknowledgements, failed POs, and incorrect or missing data. Audits for problems by examining daily reports for translation errors.
Checks communications sessions for errors and drops. Provides status reports and progress updates for assigned tasks. Works with IT on planned system maintenance and changes; partners to develop canonical models and maps for EDI documents.
Works with business areas and project teams to coordinate testing and implementations. Other assigned special projects. Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications Required: Strong verbal and written communications skills Must be able to listen carefully to users in order to understand their requirements. Ability to interact effectively with internal clients, team members, vendors, and management. Experience with Google, Word, and Excel.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to prioritize and follow timelines. Recommended: High-level understanding of the type of business application systems used or affected by EDI.
High-level understanding of the departments within Costco that utilize EDI. Experience working with supplier support staff, VANs, and EDI Translator software packages. High-level understanding of EDIs impact on other departments and systems.
Basic understanding of EDI syntax, mapping, development of EDI documents, and the ability to read basic transaction sets. Buying, Accounting, OMS, and Traffic experience a plus.
