Starting Pay: $37.78/hour
Status: Full-Time | Immediate Hire
Schedule: Shift 6:00AM - 4:00PM plus rotating on-call schedule
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy-duty equipment including container handling machines (top loaders, side loaders, reach stackers) and semi tractor-trailers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting for both on-road and off-road equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, assess, and repair container handling equipment and heavy trucks
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on side loaders, hostlers, forklifts, and related machinery
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses
  • Conduct driveline repairs on components such as axles, bearings, rings, and other related parts
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections
  • Operate safely in a fast-paced, outdoor railyard environment and adhere to all company safety protocols
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient repairs

Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience as a container handling equipment mechanic or service technician
  • Previous crane mechanic experience a plus
  • Hydraulic systems experience required (pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses)
  • Driveline component repair experience (axles, bearings, ring, etc.)
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a safety focused environment
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
    • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with port or intermodal yard equipment (e.g., Kalmar, Taylor, Hyster).
  • Experience working on Class 8 trucks and trailers.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
