Your Role:
• Analyze manufacturing costs for materials, labor, inventory, and overhead; investigate variances and key cost drivers
• Lead review and validation of bills of materials (BOMs), routings, labor standards, and operational processes
• Perform time studies and cost analyses to support accurate labor and overhead allocations
• Evaluate cost impacts of product, material, equipment, or process changes
• Partner with plant operations, engineering, and finance to improve cost accuracy and reporting; observe processes and gather cost data within manufacturing environments
• Develop, document, and maintain standard costing methodologies and allocation methods
• Support ERP system conversion, including data validation, testing, and reconciliation
• Provide management with cost insights, recommendations, and reporting to support decision-making
• Assist with audits, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous cost improvement initiatives
• Perform additional accounting or analytical duties as assigned
What we're looking for:
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in discrete or light assembly-based production
• Experience analyzing standard vs. actual costs, reviewing BOMs, and evaluating labor and overhead allocations
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, system conversions, or major process changes strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and methodologies
• Analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights to non-financial stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups; macros a plus)
• Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 strongly preferred; SAP, Oracle, or similar acceptable)
Physical Demands:
• Primarily sedentary work with occasional walking and standing
• Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
• Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers for computer-based work
Work Environment:
• Generally not exposed to adverse environmental conditions
• Occasionally exposed to a manufacturing environment, including proximity to machinery and production equipment
• Regular use of computer systems and standard office equipment
