Job Summary

As a Cost Estimator, you will play a critical role in developing robust, defensible, and datadriven cost estimates for solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across North America. You will lead the preparation of bottomsup estimates, parametric models, and benchmarking analyses to support project development, engineering, procurement, and investment decisions. Supporting tasks include reviewing project specifications, preparing cost breakdowns, collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing materials and labor costs, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, deep understanding of renewable project cost drivers, and the ability to translate engineering inputs into accurate capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) cost projections.

The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of a minimum of 3 days in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), Conceptual, and Detailed estimates based upon project plans, technical specifications, Basis of Design, Bill of Quantities (BOQ) documents for solar, wind, battery storage projects

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services

  • Prepare and maintain Basis of Estimate (BOE) for each project

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, development, O&M and procurement teams to validate assumptions and optimize costs

  • Create and maintain a cost benchmarking database

  • Monitor market trends for renewable energy components and update cost databases accordingly

  • Support and validate Change Management requests and validate cost impacts

  • Maintain compliance with Repsol published guidelines and common processes as it relates to estimating

  • Develop & maintain in-house estimating tools, templates, procedures, and guidelines

  • Support team with project stage-gate process and deliverables

  • Maintain and utilize historical cost database and apply learnings for improved project performance

  • Assess performance threats and opportunities against both internal and external benchmarks

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial analysis in Energy industry (oil & gas or renewables)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, finance, or business discipline

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering specifications, Basis of Design, BOQ and contracts

  • Technical knowledge of solar and/or wind energy systems, construction processes, and industry standards

  • Familiarity of all project controls disciplines

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

  • Exemplary standards of integrity, safety, ethics, quality, and productivity
