Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Spa Director, the Spa Cosmetologist is responsible for passionately contributing to guest experience and supporting team needs, while upholding spa standards across all service areas. This role is structured in tiered levels based on service skill sets. All Cosmetologists, regardless of level, are expected to contribute to the full guest experience, support team needs, and uphold Spa standards across all service areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides exemplary customer service by "Exceeding Expectations One Opportunity at a Time".

2. Create a welcoming, professional, and relaxing guest experience.

3. Delivery of high-quality services within their certified skill sets.

4. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in all work areas.

5. Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of products.

6. Support Spa operations including room setup, turnover, and stocking.

7. Assist with guest flow, and the overall spa experience, including stepping in where needed.

8. Promote retail products and additional services to enhance guest results.

9. Maintain accurate service notes and guest records.

10. Participate in team meetings, training and continued education.

11. Uphold the Spa's culture, standards and service protocols.

12. Assists other positions in the Spa when needed and cooperates well with co-workers.

13. Ensure that all shelves are stocked including towels, lines, spa products and treatments.

14. Responsible for learning and following personnel policies and procedures for the Spa Department and Bay Mills Resort & Casinos.

15. Must attend all mandatory training courses designated by the Human Resources Department and/or Department Manager.

16. Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this position's essential functions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand for extended periods of time. The employee must bend, squat, climb, crouch, kneel, and push/pull. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds while frequently lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to chemicals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.

2. An active Cosmetologist license in the state of Michigan is required.

3. Prior experience in a Spa service position strongly desired.

4. Must possess a personable, customer service attitude along with organizational ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

5. Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance and speak, understand write in the English language.

6. Must have strong communication skills and a friendly personality.

7. Must be committed to ongoing professional growth and skill development.

8. General knowledge of computers, prior use of POS system desired.

9. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.

10. Must have an excellent past work record, including attendance.

Level Structure and Skill Requirements:

Level I Cosmetologist (Single Skill Focus):

Specializes in one primary service area:

Hair services or,

Nail services or,

Facial/ skin care services.

Level II Cosmetologist (Dual Skill Set)

Certified and actively performing in two service areas:

Hair + Nails or,

Hair + Facials or,

Nails + Facials.

Level III Cosmetologist (Full-Service Provider)

Certified and actively performing in all three service areas including Hair, Nails, and Facials.
