Job description

About the Team + Role

Cortex is Robinhood's consumer-facing AI - designed to be the intelligent layer across your entire financial life. Today, Cortex helps millions of customers research investments, analyze their portfolios, and hone their trades through natural conversation. Tomorrow, it will deliver holistic financial planning and personalized advice, becoming the always-on financial partner that every customer deserves but few have ever had access to.

We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to own and drive Cortex forward. You'll lead the evolution from a powerful research assistant to an AI that can reason, plan, and act on behalf of customers - across investing, spending, saving, and beyond. This role demands equal parts technical depth and consumer intuition: you'll shape the AI architecture alongside engineering leaders while obsessing over the experiences that make customers trust and rely on Cortex every day.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA or New York City, NY office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What You'll Do
  • Own the Cortex product roadmap end-to-end - from improving the core conversational experience today to defining the path toward AI-powered financial planning and advice
  • Drive the technical direction alongside engineering leads - making high-conviction decisions on AI architecture, model strategy, and system design that keep Cortex at the frontier of what's possible
  • Build and evolve evaluation frameworks at scale - establish the automated quality, accuracy, and safety measurement systems that let the team ship with confidence and improve continuously
  • Ship consumer experiences that drive adoption and retention - find the moments where AI creates real value in customers' financial lives and deliver them with craft and speed
  • Navigate the regulatory landscape - partner with Legal & Compliance to responsibly expand what Cortex can do, from neutral research toward personalized financial guidance
  • Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, design, data science, compliance, and operations - turning ambiguity into shipped product
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of consumer-facing product management, with 3+ years on AI/ML-powered products
  • AI Architecture & Technical Strategy - Deep fluency in LLM architectures, agentic systems, and retrieval-augmented generation; able to hold strong, informed opinions on build-vs-buy decisions, model selection, and system design alongside engineering leaders
  • Industry Pace-Setting - Track record of translating rapid advances in AI research and tooling into product roadmap decisions, ensuring the product stays at or ahead of the frontier rather than reacting to it
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement - Experience building and evolving evaluation frameworks that measure AI quality, accuracy, and safety at scale; able to establish systematic feedback loops and quality bars that enable the team to ship with confidence and improve continuously
  • Consumer-Obsessed AI Product Craft - Ability to identify high-impact, user-facing improvements across a full AI product experience and ship them iteratively, turning a complex AI system into an intuitive financial companion customers trust and rely on daily
  • Strong sense of urgency, high ownership, and comfort operating in ambiguity across a fast-moving technical and regulatory landscape
  • Experience shipping AI products in financial services or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation and observability tooling
  • Experience with agentic AI systems in production
  • Background in financial advice, portfolio management, or wealth-tech products
What we offer
  • Market competitive and pay equity-focused compensation structure
  • 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents
  • Annual lifestyle wallet for personal wellness, learning and development, and more!
  • Lifetime maximum benefit for family forming and fertility benefits
  • Dedicated mental health support for employees and eligible dependents
  • Generous time away including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, parental leave, and more!
  • Lively office environment with catered meals, fully stocked kitchens, and geo-specific commuter benefits
