Job description

Overview

Kadant Johnson is seeking a results-driven, customer focused, and hands-on colleague with strong pipefitting and welding experience to join our team as a Field Foreman. This role combines field expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing installations, troubleshooting, and contractor management while ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently. The position is based out of Three Rivers, Michigan.


Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform pipefitting and welding on steam, condensate, water, and air systems in corrugating packaging plants
  • Read, interpret, and work from P&IDs, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Manage and coordinate third party contractors and ensure work meets Kadant Johnson and customer standards
  • Support equipment installs, modifications, and troubleshooting on corrugator systems
  • Provide accurate measurements, sketches, and documentation of system changes
  • Work closely with engineering, service, and project management teams to ensure project success
  • Maintain safety, quality, and performance standards while managing field operations
  • Assist with developing scope of work, preparation of proposals, and supporting customer needs

Qualifications

The preferred candidate for this position will have a minimum of ten years working in the corrugated packaging industry at a box plant or for a contractor/supplier that supports the corrugated packaging industry, have millwright or pipefitter experience, and be willing and able to travel up to 50-75% of the time including short notice trips, weekends, and occasional holidays based on customer needs.

The successful candidate will have in-depth mechanical knowledge of corrugator equipment, be able to identify problems and opportunities, have the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and plan and provide sound technical solutions. The ideal candidate will seek out and sieze opportunities, go beyond the normal call-of-duty, find ways to surmount barriers, be resourceful and action-oriented, and show bias for action.

Supervisory responsibilities including hiring, staff performance evaluation, and people development.
