Job description

  • Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner
  • Follow department protocols and specific radiologist direction
  • Corroborate patient clinical history with procedures and document information according to department standards
  • Prepare patients for procedures, provide instructions, obtain cooperation, and minimize anxiety
  • Select and operate breast imaging equipment and associated devices
  • Position patients and equipment to demonstrate the area of interest
  • Explain breast compression while respecting patient ability and comfort
  • Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure
  • Assist with stereotactic biopsies
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Maintain positive relationships with coworkers, physicians, and healthcare team members
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information
  • Maintain adequate department supply levels
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with advanced certification in Mammography required
  • Active ARRT certification status maintained through continuing education requirements
  • Illinois State Licensure (IEMA)
  • CPR Certification
  • Experience with stereotactic biopsies and/or willingness to be trained to assist with this procedure
  • Mammography experience preferred but not required
  • Stereotactic biopsy experience a plus
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to present required
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications, email, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge and skills of a mammography technologist, including patient care and completion of clinical exams
