Registered Nurse (RN) - Juvenile Corrections | Downey, CA
We are seeking a dedicated Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) for a 16-week travel assignment in Downey, CA! This position offers an immediate opportunity to join a specialized clinical team providing care within a juvenile court health services / correctional facility setting. Interviews are being conducted ASAP.
Position Overview
  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN) - Juvenile Corrections
  • Location: Downey, CA
  • Shift / Hours: Day Shift (5x8s, 0600-1430, 40 hours/week)
  • Assignment Duration: 16 Weeks
  • Pay Range: $1,832.81 - $2,156.25 per week
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality clinical nursing care and comprehensive patient assessments tailored to the juvenile correctional health population.
  • Perform routine and diagnostic phlebotomy (blood draws) efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage clinical care independently while working comfortably within a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement personnel.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support youth managing mood, anxiety, and behavioral conditions.
Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year of inpatient experience as a Correctional Registered Nurse.
    • Experience with juvenile incarcerated populations struggling with behavioral/mood conditions is highly preferred.
    • A background combining clinical experience in Medical-Surgical, Emergency Room (ER), Psychiatric, and/or Correctional Health settings is strongly desired.
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in phlebotomy (blood draws).
  • Licensure: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS
    • MAB or CPI
    • LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City certified)
  • Clearance: Completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to assignment start date.
