Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, petroleum engineering, corporate development, business analysis, or a related field

  • Experience conducting strategic, market, technical, competitive, and/or financial analysis to support business decisions

  • Strong understanding of portfolio management, capital allocation, and value-based decision-making within a complex business environment

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills

  • Advanced presentation, communication, and executive reporting capabilities

  • Energy, oil and gas, or natural resources industry experience preferred; MBA, CFA or equivalent designation considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, evaluation, and execution of enterprise strategy

  • Assess the strategic fit, risks, and value potential of business opportunities, investments, partnerships, and growth initiatives

  • Conduct market, competitor, industry, and macroeconomic analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and emerging risks

  • Lead scenario planning and strategic assessments to evaluate potential impacts on the business and portfolio

  • Support portfolio prioritization and resource allocation decisions to maximize enterprise value

  • Develop executive-level presentations, business cases, and recommendations for senior leadership and Board discussions

  • Monitor strategic initiatives, key performance indicators, and external signposts to inform strategy adjustments

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align strategic priorities and drive informed decision-making

Location and other Key details:

  • The position will be based at the Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Center at 150 - 6th Ave S.W

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday with business travel to sites as required

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
