Turn your passion for fitness into purpose by leading engaging group exercise classes that help members build confidence, improve their health, and have fun along the way. Whether you teach cycling, yoga, dance fitness, HIIT, pilates, or another format, you'll create an encouraging environment where everyone feels welcome to move.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for participants of all fitness levels.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages members to reach their wellness goals.
  • Motivate, educate, and support participants throughout each class.
  • Arrive early to set up equipment and greet members before class begins.
  • Build positive relationships with members and help connect them to the YMCA community.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness space.
  • Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings while maintaining required certifications.

What We're Looking For
  • Current nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification or the ability to obtain one within the timeframe established by the supervisor.
  • Specialty certification(s) for the class formats you teach, as required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification before employment.
  • Passion for health, wellness, and helping others succeed.
  • Strong communication and motivational skills.
  • Ability to lead safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes.
  • Commitment to the YMCA's mission and core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Expectations
  • Deliver high-quality group exercise experiences every class.
  • Arrive early and prepared for each scheduled class.
  • Take responsibility for arranging class coverage when needed.
