Job description

) Job Description: Nurse Assistant Intern
Position Purpose: To assist nursing and other departments with daily tasks regarding the care of the residents in the facility.
Essential Functions (list in order of importance including measures):
  • Make all beds on the floor. The Ancillary Assistant must strip beds when getting residents up where linen needs to be changed. Otherwise, linen needs to be changed minimal 2x weekly and as needed.
  • Pass ice water/snacks to all residents on the floor. Staff must ensure that no water pitcher is at bedside of thickened liquid and NPO residents. Signage must be posted over head of bed.
  • Assist with tray passing on their floor.
  • Act as Smoke Monitors.
  • Assist with laundry delivery for their floor as needed.
  • Assist as Receptionist as needed.
  • Organize rooms, closets, bedside cabinets.
  • Any other nonclinical duties as assigned by Leadership Team.

Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)
  • Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by the facility and the respective department while adhering to the facilities confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of the facility in all interactions with others.
  • Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established facility and departmental objectives, policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Participates in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation. Also assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.
  • Participates in staff meetings and other inservices, meetings or committees as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Functional literacy in English is required, ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Must be personable with residents, families, and staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the residents of the facility.

  • Quality control-the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality; ability to edit work for spelling and grammar and presents numerical data effectively.
  • Adaptability-the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Dependability-the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
