SUMMARY OF JOB
Assists the management team in providing in depth technical information as requested. Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results for physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases using established protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Works independently and communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals.
Provides assistance to Core Lab Supervisor for staff scheduling and technical supervision, and oversees the Core Lab in absence of Core Lab Supervisor.
Demonstrates ability and knowledge to independently perform, interpret, and troubleshoot clinical laboratory tests, both automated and manual, within established time frames with accuracy and precision. Assists Core Lab Supervisor in instructing personnel on technical procedures and ensuring conformance with department standards. Able to perform multiple tasks such as phlebotomy, quality control procedures, ordering, computer functions, and other duties as assigned.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate and high complexity testing. Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science field from an accredited institution; or, must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist requirements. At least four years of experience.
LICENSE AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: Specialty certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals preferred (ASCP, ASMT, NCA, etc). Must actively demonstrate the pursuance of specialty certification in chosen field of clinical expertise.
