Copywriter
Reporting to the Brand Communications Manager, the Copywriter is responsible for developing compelling content that inspires current and potential customers to cruise America with American Cruise Lines. The Copywriter will amplify the brand voice across all the marketing channels and communications.

This position will work closely with marketing, creative design, internal stakeholders, and subject matter experts to translate ideas, products, and information into engaging and motivating written content. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who understands how to adapt messaging for different audiences, channels, and business objectives. This role requires a combination of strong writing skills, creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop high-quality copy for a variety of channels, including our website, direct mail, advertisements, email, internal communications, marketing campaigns, social media, and other digital and print content.
  • Create copy that is clear, engaging, and consistently applies the appropriate voice for each brand and channel, and meets business initiatives.
  • Edit and proofread copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand standards, editorial guidelines, and style.
  • Partner with the marketing, creative, and internal teams to understand objectives and develop effective content.
  • Collaborate with the creative designers to maintain alignment of creative concepts and to ensure written and visual elements work together effectively.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve the effectiveness of content and communications.
  • Stay current on content, copywriting, digital marketing, competitive review, and audience engagement trends.
  • Incorporate SEO in partnership with the digital content team, when appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional copywriting, content writing, marketing communications, or related experience (agency or brand experience preferred).
  • Strong portfolio of relevant copywriting work demonstrating experience across multiple types of marketing and brand copy (experience writing for the travel industry preferred, but not required).
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling, effective direct-response copy that maintains brand voice while motivating audiences to take action, driving measurable engagement and conversion.
  • Strong command of grammar, punctuation, style, and tone.
  • Strong understanding of brand voice and audience-focused communication.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent research, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Independent self-starter who can collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to receive feedback and work effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SharePoint and project management tools is a plus.
  • Experience using AI-assisted writing while maintaining originality, accuracy, brand voice, and editorial judgement.
Work Schedule:
  • Onsite position: 5 days per week onsite in our Guilford office.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
