Job Description

The copywriter will be responsible for writing all types of marketing content for the university, including content presented on the university's website, email, direct mail, and print campaigns. She/He will also take an extensive role in messaging strategy, product marketing campaign strategy, and lifecycle campaign management. Position is responsible for the copy integrity of marketing communications materials and programs through strategic direction and development of targeted messaging. Ensures copy is consistent with the university's brand standards.
At WGU, storytelling plays a critical role in helping prospective students, partners, and stakeholders understand the value of education and opportunity. We're looking for a talented Marketing Copywriter who can translate complex ideas into compelling, audience-focused content that drives engagement, supports brand objectives, and advances the university's mission.
What You'll Do
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external partners to understand business objectives and develop strategic, audience-centered messaging.
  • Create compelling marketing content across digital, web, email, blog, print, and campaign channels while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Collaborate with designers and creative partners to develop concepts and execute integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Write and manage website content, SEO-focused assets, blog content, and marketing copy that supports enrollment and brand goals.
  • Oversee content development for vendor, affiliate, and partner websites as directed.
  • Incorporate feedback from business partners, legal, compliance, and marketing stakeholders while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements, strengthen cross-functional relationships, and stay current on industry trends, content strategy, and SEO best practices.
What You'll Bring

Work Location
This is a full-time, in-office position requiring five days per week in our Salt Lake City, Utah office, designed to foster the collaboration and connection that fuel our best work.

Travel Requirement
This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year).
