Hybrid: Required in-office every Tuesday & Wednesday

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Product Manager, New Product, you will get a broad overview of Harlequin's marketing efforts and the various roles within marketing. You will gain experience in a variety of areas within marketing, product management, and new product development.

This team works closely with the marketing, editorial, art, and sales departments to develop and raise awareness for books under the Harlequin umbrella, including new product initiatives.


The Intern will focus on these areas:

  • Supports the Assistant Product Manager, New Product, with sales materials, including copywriting, internal and external comp titles, system inputs, execution, and communication.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the timely development, presentation, communication, and implementation of plans as per seasonal work-back schedules.
  • Contributes to the creation and execution of digital advertising assets.
  • Manages asset development for marketing materials and sales collateral.
  • Works closely with the promotions team and cross-functional groups to develop and execute marketing plans and creative strategies to achieve objectives and ROI.
  • Prepares author communications and marketing plans.
  • Conducts trend investigation projects to inform publishing strategies and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Handles cover tracking, data entry, and promotional nominations.
  • Assists with seasonal processes, including Trello card setup and slide presentation creation and population.
  • Reviews acquisitions and engages in publishing team product discussions.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Completion of university or college education
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work, manage multiple deadlines, and demonstrate solid follow-through.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of organization and record-keeping.
  • High degree of initiative and independence, and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaboration, persuasion, and problem-solving skills, with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including a basic understanding of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a love of books are a must.
