Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position:
Under supervision, perform typing, secretarial, and related office activities, utilizing manual and automated office systems; duties may include employee supervision. All personnel perform related work.
Under supervision, performs responsible typing, secretarial, and related office work with some latitude for independent judgement.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
1. Performs responsible typing and word processing work, such as typing routine letters, varying details to suit circumstances.
2. May instruct a small group engaged in the performance of typing, word processing, and office operations.
3. Performs secretarial work, including scheduling appointments and other general office work.
4. Performs typing work including copy typing from rough or clear drafts, typing statistical tables, and typing transcription from tapes and varityping.
5. Performs basic word processing assignments using word processing equipment or other automated office equipment; may perform basic entry functions.
6. Reviews and corrects typed material ensure correct spelling, syllabification, punctuation and proper format.
7. May respond to routine telephone calls; refers calls, and visitors to appropriate staff.
8. In the temporary absence of the supervisor, may perform his/her supervisory duties not in excess of 30 days or 210 hours in a calendar year.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in Secretarial Science,Office Administration or Technology, Business Administration or related areas of study and two (2) years ofexecutive administrative assistant experience, or
2.High School Diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or arecognized accrediting organization and three (3) years of experience, as described in "1" above.
3.A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent. A Bachelor's degree maybe considered equivalent to four (4) years of relevant professional experience as described in "1" above.
